It's Preptober '22!

A LOT has been going in my life since my last blog post. It is now suspected that I may have ADHD, and that really explains why I will start blogs and not finish them. It may also explain why I haven't been able to finish NaNoWriMo.
With that in mind, I am focused and motivated today! So a blog post it is. I recently watched Kate Cavanaugh's Preptober video, and she's trying something a little different this year. I'd like to follow along as well! The basic idea is to collect all the ideas you've had for novels and then spend each week working on a small portion of prepping them to write. At the end, you roll a die to determine what you'll be writing for NaNo.
This sounds good for me, as switching between projects is sometimes helpful for my focus. I came up with at least 9. I'll be removing anything I can't see myself going through with - I've already eliminated 2. One would require a great deal of research to get the feel and tone correct. The other is completely from a male point of view and deals with male issues, and I'm not feeling qualified to accomplish it. I've done a few short stories for the male POV, but this would dive deep into issues of abuse and redemption, which I am not looking forward to writing on the fly in 30 days.
That still leaves me with at least 7 ideas to flesh out. So this week I'll be working on titling each work and securing a writing soundtrack that gives me the correct vibes for each one. Anything that simply isn't working will get put aside to narrow my choices.
If this method works out, I'll be using it even during NaNo, for ideas that inevitably pop up and demand to be written immediately. I'm hoping it will give me a way to get those ideas down, fleshed out just a little bit. So when I'm ready, they can be written quickly.
What are you doing to get ready for NaNoWriMo? Are you participating in Preptober?
